Compassionate Treatment: The Rebirth of a Cat After Full Mouth Extractions for Stomatitis
本站 2025/2/25 17:21:10
This little kitten was once a stray cat, but was fortunate enough to be adopted by a kind-hearted owner. However, recently, it began showing symptoms of pain while eating, weight loss, and drooling. After an initial diagnosis, the cat was found to have caudal stomatitis, and its owner promptly brought it to our hospital for further examination and treatment.

Initial Diagnosis:
During the consultation, we observed that the cat was slightly underweight and its mouth was filled with inflammation. The gums were swollen and bleeding. The cat was in significant pain, unwilling to open its mouth, and the mucous membranes in its mouth were severely inflamed.

Diagnosis Confirmation:
After administering general anesthesia, we performed a thorough oral examination and took full-mouth X-rays. The results confirmed that the cat had caudal stomatitis, with extensive inflammation of the mucous membranes at the back of the mouth.

Treatment Plan:
To ensure a clean surgical area and reduce the risk of infection, we disinfected all the teeth and performed a routine dental cleaning. We also assessed the condition of the tooth roots and alveolar bone through the X-rays. To alleviate pain, we performed nerve blocks on both the upper and lower jaws, followed by a full-mouth extraction. After the surgery, we used imported absorbable sutures to minimize post-operative bleeding.

Treatment Outcome:
Post-surgery, the cat recovered smoothly from anesthesia and did not exhibit any signs of pain, such as vocalizing or rolling. By the second day after surgery, it was able to eat liquid food on its own and stayed in the hospital for three days to receive fluid therapy to control pain. After two months of recovery, the oral inflammation had mostly subsided, its appetite gradually improved, and its weight began to increase. The overall health of the cat showed significant improvement.

Through timely diagnosis and treatment, we not only alleviated the cat’s oral pain but also helped it regain a healthy state of life. This treatment has provided the cat with a comfortable life and restored its vitality!
